PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated September 29, 2026
SitterLine connects parents and their babysitters in one shared space for sessions, care notes, messages, and payments. It is made by Kiln Digital Labs LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information SitterLine collects, how we use it, who can see it, and how you can delete it.
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), phone number, whether you are a parent or a sitter, and an optional profile photo.
- Child profiles (parents): each child's name, date of birth, optional photo, allergies, care notes, emergency contact, bedtime, feeding schedule, and favorites.
- House information (parents): details you choose to share with your sitter, such as Wi-Fi name and password, parking, house rules, screen-time rules, pets, transportation, and where supplies are kept.
- Payment handles (sitters): Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or Zelle usernames, shown to the parents you connect with so they can pay you. SitterLine does not process payments between parents and sitters.
- Sessions: clock-in and clock-out times, pay rate, hours, totals, paid status, and time-correction requests.
- Care notes, check-ins, messages, and photos you send to your connected parent or sitter.
- Check-in schedules and notification preferences (parents).
Information collected automatically
- A push notification token, so we can send you alerts you've turned on.
- Your device's time zone, so arrival and departure alerts show the right local time.
- In-app activity events (for example "session started" or "message sent") and the role you're using. We use these only to understand and improve SitterLine; they are stored in our own database and are not shared with advertisers.
- Subscription status for SitterLine Plus, received from Apple or Google: the plan, purchase, renewal, expiry, and refund dates, and the store's transaction identifiers. We never receive your card or bank details.
How we use information
- To run SitterLine: connecting parents and sitters, tracking sessions, delivering care notes, check-ins, messages, and photos, and showing what is owed.
- To send notifications: arrival and departure alerts, care notes, messages, check-in reminders, payment reminders, and time-correction updates.
- To provide SitterLine Plus: verifying purchases with Apple or Google and applying the free-sit allowance.
- To keep SitterLine safe: preventing misuse, investigating reported problems, and reviewing time-correction disputes.
- To understand how SitterLine is used so we can improve it.
Who can see your information
Your information is shared with the parent or sitter you connect with — that is the purpose of SitterLine. A connected sitter can see the parent's child profiles, house information, care notes, messages, photos, and sessions for that connection; a connected parent can see the sitter's profile, payment handles, sessions, notes, and messages. People you are not connected to cannot see your profile.
We use service providers to run SitterLine, and they process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, sign-in, file storage, and server functions.
- Expo, Apple Push Notification service, and Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering push notifications.
- Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) — processing SitterLine Plus subscriptions.
- Railway — hosting the SitterLine web app.
What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not show ads or share your information with advertising networks.
- We do not use your information to build profiles for anyone else.
How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit. Database access rules limit every record to the people it belongs to and their connections. Photos are stored privately and are shown through links that expire. Our hosting provider encrypts stored data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you as required by law.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or by emailing privacy@kilndigitallabs.com — see our Delete your account page for details.
Deleting your account permanently deletes your profile, child profiles, house information, photos, check-in schedules, and your connections — including the sessions, care notes, and messages shared in them, which your connected parent or sitter will also lose. Activity events are kept only in de-identified form. We may keep limited billing records where we need them for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.
Deleting your account does not cancel a SitterLine Plus subscription — Apple or Google bill it. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions.
Children
SitterLine accounts are for adults 18 and older. The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Information about children is entered by their parent, who consents to sharing it with the sitters they choose to connect with, and it is used only to help those sitters care for the child. Parents can edit or delete it at any time. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- View and edit your information in the app at any time.
- Turn arrival and departure alerts on or off in Profile, and manage all notifications in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account in the app, or ask us to.
- Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have the right to know, access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. Email privacy@kilndigitallabs.com and we will respond within the time the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and let you know in the app before they take effect.
